Why build a science center?
Up to 85 percent of jobs that will exist in the next 10-15 years haven’t been invented yet. Innovation, practical orientation, and logical thinking are basic common features of the new jobs of the future. Experiences and exhibits that bring together STEAM topics in engaging and thought-provoking ways, like those available at CLA, are the key to developing these skills.
Located in the former Joplin Public Library on Main Street, the Exploreum will be an exciting place to be.
The Exploreum will feature:
- Permanent interactive exhibits
- Rotating exhibits
- Weekly educational programs
- University partnerships that extend learning with volunteer and teaching opportunities
- Partnership with national and international organizations for special events
- Dedicated K-12 school field trips with programs, meeting both the Missouri Learning Standards and the national Next Generation Science Standards
