New elementary and middle school teams are forming for students across the Joplin region.
Something new is coming to the Schroeder Family Exploreum this fall, and kids are in the driver’s seat.
The Exploreum is partnering with Missouri Destination Imagination to launch two Destination Imagination teams: one for elementary students and one for middle school students. Students from any area school, including homeschool students, are welcome to participate.
What is Destination Imagination?
Destination Imagination challenges students to tackle open-ended problems, dream up their own solutions and bring those ideas to life.
Teams work together to create, experiment and problem-solve, with students owning the process from start to finish. Along the way, they build skills in creativity, collaboration, communication and real-world problem solving.
The Exploreum will complement the Destination Imagination season with hands-on, skill-building workshops designed to help students test ideas, build skills and turn creative concepts into action.
“This is an exciting opportunity to bring students from across the Joplin region together to create, collaborate and solve problems in a completely different way,” says Neely Myers, Executive Director of the Schroeder Family Exploreum. “The Exploreum is thrilled to offer this unique learning experience beyond our typical programming.”
Open to Students Across the Region
Students don’t have to attend the same school to be on the same team. This new program gives young people across the region a chance to learn, create and compete together, no matter where they go to school.
